Agave Lopantha

Categories ,

Agave Lophantha, commonly known as Center Stripe Agave, is a beautiful, medium-sized succulent that stands out with its striking variegated leaves. Each dark green leaf features a bright, creamy-yellow stripe running down the center, making it a bold and eye-catching choice for Arizona landscapes. This agave grows in a dense, symmetrical rosette and is ideal for adding architectural interest to xeriscape gardens, borders, or containers. Agave Lophantha is hardy and low-maintenance, making it perfect for those who want an attractive, drought-tolerant plant that requires minimal care.

Type of Light: Full Sun to Partial Shade
Agave Lophantha thrives in full sun but can also handle some partial shade, especially in Arizona’s hotter regions. It performs best when exposed to plenty of sunlight but benefits from afternoon shade in extreme summer heat.

Watering: Low Water Requirement
This agave is highly drought-tolerant once established. In Arizona, water once every 2-3 weeks during the summer and once every 4-6 weeks in the cooler months. Make sure the soil drains well, as Agave Lophantha prefers dry conditions and is sensitive to overwatering.

Companion Planting:
Agave Lophantha pairs beautifully with Purple Heart, Red Yucca, and Golden Barrel Cactus for a striking contrast in color and texture. Lantana and Mexican Feather Grass also make excellent companions, adding softness and attracting beneficial pollinators like bees and butterflies while helping to deter pests from your agave.
